Modern Remodel with Colorful MCM Plywood Cabinets and Custom Cabinetry in a Cozy Cabin Kitchen

This cozy kitchen renovation was the result of a close, collaborative process with a homeowner who had a clear vision. From our very first meeting, she expressed that she wanted a kitchen that would feel truly unique—something that reflected her personality while honoring the history of the cabin itself. Together, we brought that vision to life through a modern remodel that blends vibrant color, warmth, and thoughtful functionality.

We used our custom “Basil” green Osmo wood wax on MCM plywood cabinets, paired with deep blue Fenix laminate countertops. We kept the original chestnut upper cabinets, which add warmth and nod to the home’s mid-century style. The exposed-edge plywood brings in texture and highlights the quality of the materials.

We also reworked the layout. Moving the fridge to an interior wall opened space around the stone fireplace. That change made room for a second counter and more lower cabinets. Now the kitchen has twice the prep space and much better storage.
