Ordering Process

We have a four part ordering process consisting of Planning, Customization, Production, and Delivery & Install. Each part of the process is outlined here.

We love working collaboratively with other designers. We have a few different ways that we like to structure the design process with other professionals. We can work with you and your design team to figure out what process works best for you!

If you are local and we are able to install your kitchen (pending availability and schedule), we will take final measurements. Otherwise, we rely on your contractor, project manager, or trusted installer to provide us with accurate final measurements. In order to produce an estimate, all we need are basic dimensions which you can measure yourself. Here is a step-by-step guide to measuring your kitchen.

Yes, working directly with contractors is a great way to ensure that all measurements are accurate, that the timing of cabinet delivery works with the construction schedule, and the space is ready for cabinet installation.

Cabinets

We have carefully selected a range of innovative plywood materials for our cabinet boxes and fronts, most of which are made from fast growing tree species milled with renewable energy. All of our plywood is formaldehyde-free and sourced from sustainably managed forests.

Our cabinet boxes are built from high-quality, sustainable maple-faced plywood that has exceptional surface quality and great stability. Read more about our materials here.

We offer two different types of finishes:

  • Wood-wax: Wood-wax finishes provide a semi-transparent, durable, matte finish and are made from natural waxes and oils. We offer a range of gorgeous custom colors, or if you'd like a natural wood look, we can do a clear coat.
  • Laminate: We also make cabinets with laminated plywood fronts. We offer a selection of specialty laminates with nano-tech, antimicrobial, and scratch resistant properties. Laminate cabinet fronts are a classic, durable choice for a clean and modern kitchen. We leave the plywood edges of our cabinets exposed when we build a laminate kitchen, which adds warmth and texture to this solid, sleek surface.

Read more about all of our finishes and colors here.

We no longer make concrete countertops, but do offer 3/4" laminated plywood counter options to our kitchen cabinetry clients. We also have a range of countertop materials samples in our studio for your reference when planning with us, and can help connect you to countertop makers and installers in western Massachusetts.

Of course! If you are local, we encourage you to come visit our shop and showroom so you can see our materials in person. We can also mail samples to you. Email info@boxco.studio for more information.

If you are a trade professional and are interested in a sample box, you can contact us at trade@boxco.studio.

Yes, we make custom bathroom vanities, closet systems, banquette seating, and shelves.

In an energy intensive industry, we endeavor to think critically about our materials and methods, in order to reduce waste and care for our planet and for ourselves. We have carefully selected a range of innovative plywood materials for our cabinet boxes and fronts, most of which are made from fast growing tree species milled with renewable energy. All of our plywood is formaldehyde-free and sourced from sustainably managed forests. We use Osmo® wood-wax finishes which are non-toxic, super durable, easily cleaned and safe for the environment.

You can read more about our process, and how we work to reduce waste, here

We don’t offer cabinet refacing or make doors for existing cabinet boxes. Over time, cabinetry can shift—walls settle, boxes go out of square, and dimensions can vary slightly—making it very difficult to ensure a perfect fit for new doors or veneers.

Since we specialize in custom-built cabinetry made to order for each space, working with existing boxes doesn’t allow us to guarantee the level of fit, durability, or finish we're known for.

Pricing

Our kitchens typically start around $16K while most average size kitchens run between $20-40K.

Pricing is very dependent on the complexity and size of the job. Use our Estimate Form to request a complimentary estimate for your project.

Delivery cost varies based on distance and size of job. Delivery within a 5 hour radius of our shop is typically $1,000 - $3,500.

For deliveries to US states outside of our radius we use container shipping, which can range $3K-$8K depending on the location.

Delivery & Installation

Once the 50% Production Payment has been made, we will provide a delivery date. As long as there is adequate time for production, we will work with you to ensure that the date coincides with your construction schedule. This delivery date is usually 8-12 weeks from the Production Payment. If you live within our delivery radius (see question above) we will deliver directly to you. If you are outside of this area, we will ship them via freight or container.

All of our cabinets arrive fully assembled and ready for installation.

Unless your project is happening in stages, all of the cabinets will arrive at the same time.

Boxco cabinets need to be installed by either a Boxco-approved installer or a professional cabinet installer who’s read and agreed to follow our Installation Guide.

Installers must follow the guidelines in the Boxco Installation Guide. We’re happy to provide phone and email support for professional installers, but we don’t offer training for homeowners or general contractors.

It’s the client’s responsibility to make sure their installer reviews the guide and reaches out to us with any questions.

Unless you are a professional installer, we recommend that you do not install your own cabinets.

If your cabinets won’t be installed right away, they need to be stored in a climate-controlled space—either inside your home or in a climate-controlled storage unit. We recommend installing them as soon as they arrive to avoid damage.

If your order isn’t accepted within 7 days of being ready for delivery, it will be moved to a storage facility, and you’ll be responsible for any related costs. Please note that we can’t guarantee free replacements for issues reported more than 90 days after delivery.
