Rhubarb Pink Laundry Room

Scarborough, Maine

Cheerful Laundry Room in Scarborough, Maine

This bright and inviting laundry room renovation, part of a reimagining of a 1970s Dutch Colonial in Scarborough, Maine, brings a playful dose of color and craft to everyday routines. Designed in collaboration with Emily Rand of A Visual Pursuit, the space balances cheerful personality with Boxco’s signature precision and material honesty.

This pink laundry room cabinetry features inset slab-front construction with Baltic birch boxes and maple-veneered doors, finished in Boxco’s custom Rhubarb plant-based wood wax. The slab-front, inset design highlights the clean geometry of the cabinetry while exposed plywood edges add a warm, modern texture. A maple butcher block countertop ties in beautifully, adding natural contrast against the soft pink tones.

Underfoot, slate tile flooring grounds the space, while floral wallpaper brings a sense of artistry and pattern that feels at once nostalgic and fresh. With natural light streaming in from the exterior door, the room feels bright and lively — a perfect example of how thoughtful design can turn a utility space into something joyful.

This project is a study in balance: craftsmanship meets color, and practicality meets personality. The result is a pink laundry room cabinetry design that’s both hardworking and full of heart — a modern take on MCM kitchen design principles, applied to everyday living.
